Flash Before the Bang is a funny, heart-warming and inspiring true-life tale. An underdog, ragtag Deaf track team and their checked-out coach must overcome their school’s indifference, outsiders’ low expectations and their own self-doubts. When a bullied deaf track runner seeks opportunity at the Oregon School for the Deaf, his hopes of glory are dashed by the unmotivated and defeated team and a deaf coach in the throes of a mid-life crisis. But when the school itself is threatened with closure, the only home they know on the line, they will have to dig deep to overcome adversity at every turn, discrimination, and struggle to seize a seemingly impossible and unprecedented victory at the 1986 Oregon State Track & Field Championship.
